Latest company news about Possible Failures and Troubleshooting in the Electrocoating Process: Secondary sags

Secondary sags refer to paint entrapped in a joint or recessed area of the substrate seeping out in the baking
oven and residing on the paint film.

Q:
Paint entrapped in joints or recessed areas.

A:

  • Improve the substrate structure or the manner of hanging, and enhance the rinsing process.
  • It is also effective to provide an air blower and/or preheating stage before baking.
  • With respect to paint, reduce the nonvolatile content. Equipment-wise, enhance the rinsing capacity. This is intended to reduce the concentration of the paint entrapped at joints and other features for mitigated damage resulting from secondary sags.
